Why is the localhost (ip 127.0.0.1) used .
Why cant the actuall IP address of the machine used instead of local host .
How does the process of connection differ in the two cases .

You might check out Massive Link Forum for some help. They would probably have a few people there that might be better for this question.

What IP address Apache would respond to is imperative in httpd.conf, so you'll need to modify it before the IP addresses are interchangeable.

Hello Friends
But all links appear as "http://10.84.0.16/forum/whatever" - 10.84.0.16 is the server's internal ip-address. In the network itself this would not be a problem. But as soon as I try to access the forum through the internet, it doesn't work any more: the first loading is successful, but again, all links appear as "http://10.84..." - and this leads to errors, of course.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for your help!
