Help.....

A friend of mine is looking for a server side application or script that will check a visitors system to see if they are running any type of Anti virus program.

Is this possible to do with IE or any other type browers

No, because to check or scan a viewer's computer means they have to approve some kind of scripting/activex control to be installed to allow you to run the program.

No one in their right mind would allow that except from reputable sites like McAfee, Trend Micro, etc., which all have to install some program(s) on a user's computer to scan files.

I didn't think it was possible, and like you said, even if it was possible who in there right mind would give permission to run such a program...

:) Still doesn't mean that you can't sniff out a lot of information that browsers deliver to web sites that most people don't know is detected.

Actually malware might be the program you are looking for because it does get installed unknowingly on people's computers and can report back everything on the hard drive.
