| What did you download them as (what file format), what did you use for downloader, what are you using to edit the files with, etc.. |

When files were unzipped, were the HTML files with an *.htm or *.html extension? It could be a Dreamweaver (DW) Option setting for the character encoding, but normally DW opens an html file so you can see it as such. I've seen some files open in editors using ASCII or wrong MIME type that look just like what you posted.
Can you look at the extensions for your web template files and let me know. I'm hoping the zip utility didn't unzip the files incorrectly. Possibly email me one of them? |

OK. Big difference there. Is your site set up to use PHP to generate the html content for your web pages? Might look into this: Use Dreamweaver to edit PHP and MySQL websites
The only reason DWMX will change your code is if it thinks you have bad HTML. So (in MX) go "Edit" > "Preferences" > "Code Rewriting" Tab > And Uncheck everything. Hit OK.
And just like that - it won't change your code again, ever. Even if it is bad code.
What version of DW are you using? |

Did you read the info at the site whose link I gave? Wow, Master Collection CS3! Must be nice. :P
Possibly your files have been changed after opening/closing in Dreamweaver. Need to look at an original PHP page as unzipped. |
