I see that you have put a basic site together, did you write the html or use an editor? If you used an editor, you probably don't need to actually understand advanced html if you don't prefer to, otherwise html in basic form is pretty simple.

META tags are simply used by search engines to identify certain details about your site, some engines use this information, some do not anymore.

Optimization is generally easy in the sense that, your site needs to be as informative about your product/service as possible to achieve relevancy. Relevancy is the key to high search engine rankings. A site must be highly informative, and appear to the search engine to be what the searcher is looking for when they search for a key phrase on a search engine.

The more informative your site is in regards to the products/services the searcher is looking for, the higher the ranking your site will achieve.

As a note, it's extremely difficult to get your site ranked in the first few pages of google. Just remember, for every site related to a certain product or service, there are 10 million other sites just like it trying to achieve the same thing you are, so it's very, very difficult to rank high in this world of over saturation.

My advice would be the build the most informative site, and make sure your html is valid, and written cleanly. Search engines dislike cluttered code.

By the way, my name is Greg, what's your name?
