Hi,
I'd like to add a lightbox script for a few pages on my website and have been looking at a couple of sources (http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex4/lightbox/index.htm) and (http://www.huddletogether.com/projects/lightbox2/)
There are still some bits about using the script and what to put where that I'm unsure of, but I'd like to clear something up before I start playing with it -
- I use SquareSpace as my editor, and they have a lightbox option for the gallery pages. I've got it in use on my Portfolio pages http://www.woollywormhead.com/portfolio/
So my question is this: if I want to use lightbox script on some other pages, do I still need to add the bit of code into the < head > section, or will it cause a conflict with what SquareSpace has already got there? And if I don't need to add the header code I guess I don't need to upload any files... so will this make using the lightbox on other pages easier?
Thanks in advance! |

A couple of questions first. Are you creating your own thumbnails or is the script doing it for you?
Is there a separate head section for each page or is there just the one? (If it's like wordpress then there is only one).
Yes there will be a conflict between scripts (lightbox.js) if they are not identical in which case you only need one script.
Experiment with the script you have now using the lightbox call (rel="lightbox") from the huddletogether.com site. to see if it works the same.
I have never used SquareSpace so I don't know how it integrates javascript. |

Yep, only one header section with SquareSpace, not per page!
On the gallery pages where the script is an option in the editor, the script produces the thumbnails.
On the pages that I want to add a lightbox to (basically for single image viewing, not as complex as the set-up in the editor for the gallery) I've created the thumbnails myself.
SquareSpace uses a lot of Java in their interface and they seem to integrate it pretty well, yet there isn't an option for a lightbox when you upload a photo to any of the pages except the gallery - on other pages the option is a regular pop-up window, not a lightbox.
Not totally confident at experimenting with the script that's already there, but will have a go and report back!
Cheers :) |
