Hi all..
My band's photoshopped myspace background, photos, links etc completely stopped working one day when the host shut his servers down.
I have the original html code saved, but how do I go about hosting it somewhere else? (preferrably for free!) :twisted:
Do I need to register the bands myspace address as a domain name or something?? Sorry I am completely clueless. If I get all the html hosted somewhere else, then that should completely solve the problem right?
Please help..I'm dumb!

You can't register the MySpace address. If you have all the HTML code and images, there are lots of free sites that you can use to set up your band's site as long as you are not requiring server-side scripting languages or databases.

If you want a domain name for your band, you must either pay for it or find a hosting site which offers a free one as part of the hosting package.

My bands myspace background, links, and pics stopped working when the host shut down the servers. I didnt do the original myspace design and didnt sort out the hosting, but I have all the original code that I copied from our myspace. I have tried visiting a number of these free hosting sites, but I dont even know where to start. They usually ask me for a domain (which we dont have - and obviously cant use our myspace adress)
How do I get past this? Is it not possible to sign up to one of these hosting sites and then just paste our myspace code in there to be hosted...or do we need to upload each individual picture and link as well?

Please help...

That's why I gave you that list. Find a free host. They are only asking for a sub-domain name which you need to think up for your band. Just use your band's name if you want.

If you have all files and images then these can be uploaded once you have signed up and have a username and password for you account. The site editor should be found under File Manager. Your home page (index.html) can just overwrite the one that may be there already. Just make sure you make any new folders with same name if needed and upload the correct files into them.
