Hello Forum!
I am brand new to this site as I was Google searching for an answer to my question I came across this forum. Many thanks and a golf clap to you all for the info provided here.
Have now spent many hours reading these posts and still have yet to discover the answer to my question. I will try and be as complete as I can in asking it, as to help others like myself in the future.
I know Photoshop 9.0 on Mac very well. I am certified in course study in PSCS2 and Flash 8. I know Dreamweaver Mx 2004...but just upgraded to Dreamweaver 8 so I am not very good at it yet.
I was building websites using the most generic methods and basic programs until I decided to improve the graphic quality and content of my sites(this was easier and faster than flash and more affordable for my customers). Photoshop has always been I feel one of the best tools available graphic wise and now site design. Now that Image Ready is included in the package and I need a better site design method, I feel photoshop is my program of choice. Its time to suck it up and do it!
Ok enough of the fluff on why...
I build my sites in PSCS2. I Dont need image swaps or anything so in order to keep image ready as simple as I can, all I use it for is slicing, optimizing, and saving as HTML format so that I can import or open the file in Dreamweaver8.
Here is were the issues start. I know very little about combining the two programs to make them work together. When I open the HTML doc in DW8 it auto aligns all slices on the left margins. No matter what, the slices will not center align. I find this annoying because the page is located in different positions depending on browser being used. I found through trial and error that setting only the left margin to 45 pixels and leaving the other margins blank gives a more AVERAGE center appearence. So...How can I fix this?
Question two: How can I type my text after the photoshop slices are imported into photoshop? I read somewhere to make the image a back round so that you can type over it. However this only works if you could care less about the placement and accuracy of the text. If I have a box drawn in PS that is 431 pixels tall and 300 wide, I want to type text into that area ONLY. When I try this...I am limited to a very BAD re- arrangement of the slices and a very very small amount of typing area. COMPLETLEY AGGRAVATING
So in summery...margins? and text input after importing of PS slices with out distortion of the page arrangement. I read on this forum abour inserting tables. I think it was 6 tables in the given example but there was no explanation on what must be done with them and how to use them properly.
For example. My buddy built his own site and I can see my own simular issue are present with his (in some places). Brian did his own site using Image Ready slices and PayPal HTML code for the buttons.
I use Safari as my primary browser and it looks fine...however in IE there is what appears to be a very subtle break in the slices...Take a look... www.massmediaonline.org/index56.html
I know that htese may be futile to mosst of you, but after trying to study and restudy something for almost three weeks...Im about to jump out of a window. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a bunch guys and gals!!!

I guess I need to keep looking then. I know that things like answers are not always immediate, but I feel funny being the only person without a response here...LOL, oh well.
I like standing out I guess. Thanks to all the viewers anyway! |

| It might be better if you break down your question into smaller ones. But you wil find some of your answer here: Adjusting the template |

I am not that conversant with dream viewer but I tried rearranging the table structures. Have a look at this code

| Depending on what cell / table you are trying to write in, you might need to even try doing it in your imaging program until you can learn CSS and learn how to repeat backgrounds as necessary |

Yeah... I'm having some trouble with DM8 as well... it doesnt have the copy image and html function under the edit menu like it did in MX 2004..... I mean is there a new way of doing it because good ol' copy and paste isn't working for me.
Specific Scenario:
I am trying to use buttons I made in Fireworks and it wont copy all of the functionality of the buttons from the navbar library file to the desired pages.
I hope this makes sense and someone can help in some way. |

Unfortunately I do not used Dreamweaver at all. (it even took me a few seconds to know what DMX was). You might try a Dreamweaver forum - I can mainly try to help out with HTML in general but not something that it proprietary to Dreamweaver

| Oh... okay... thanks again though.... I figured the problem out on my own after a good run through of the commands and found the way to get it to work. Its still good to know where to go for info on html code though..... heh. |

| I guess, you better check your css codings or html code, maybe some parts of your coding is not applicable to all browsers. And try learning css in aligning you website to fit all browsers. |
