Posted: Sun Feb 12, 2006 12:08 am     site not loading?

I didn't know where else to post this.

I seem to have an issue with the forum not loading.

Several times I have gone to make a post or reply to a post and even sometimes load the site up and all I get is a grey screen and down in the bottom left coner it says done.

Is this me? It could be but this is the first time I have had an issue like this. Just find it odd really.

Thanks!

What browser are you using?

When you say "load the site up" are you refering to the forum?

I agree - it is very odd. Have you used the site in the past without this effect? When did it start happening, or when was the last time you used the site that it didn't happen?

Thank you for the feedback.

I use IE 6.

I showed this problem to my husband and he said just let the page site for a bit. So I did. It's just very slow loading.

This started the day after I joined the forums. And it's only happening in the forums.

Examples of when it happens...
load the main page for the forum or navigate through the forums.

It took about 60 secs from when I hit the link to come to here to open this topic. then about another 60 secs to be able to reply. And it happens when I reply as well.

When I first came here or there are other times during the day it takes only a few (2 or 4 secs) to open a topic/post on the forums.

Thanks for helping me out with this. It's frustrating to me and it's not like there are alot of graphics in the posts like on another forum I go to.

I will second the slow loading. I don't know if it's the adverts or just your server, but it can be extreamly slow at times.

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>ping htmlcodetutorial.com

Pinging htmlcodetutorial.com [66.116.100.18] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 66.116.100.18: bytes=32 time=556ms TTL=46
Reply from 66.116.100.18: bytes=32 time=134ms TTL=46
Reply from 66.116.100.18: bytes=32 time=83ms TTL=46
Reply from 66.116.100.18: bytes=32 time=321ms TTL=46

The ping was a bit high but I have not really seen too much of a problem - every so often, I find a page not found, etc but chalk it up to the server being rebooted at that time, etc

5pm EST right now and the forums are working great! 2 to 4 second load time as I go around.

It loads ok for me 99% of the time. This time took about 5 seconds which isn't too shabby.

Its accepted that at times a site will be down for routine maintenance. Should be less with a site running php as it will be on a unix box which very rarely need rebooting.
