HTML Help

I know that there are a number of tutorials out there. I have tried to understand them, but I don't.

I'm more familiar with web design and HTML but not all this FTP and php stuff, I just don't know where to start.

The only thing I've done so far is uploaded all the downloaded files I got from CuteNews to my freewebs directory. I had to do it one by one since I don't have premium, and yes I'm using freewebs.

The uploading was slow, but I got all the files in EXCEPT for the files called, ".htaccess"

There were about 2-4 of those .htaccess files.

But that's not the main problem.

I don't know what an FTP is, if I need it, if I have to pay for it, and what to do next.

If you say something, please don't only direct me to an existing tutorial, because chances are, I've already been there, and it hasn't helped.

I just hoped that if someone were to read about my confusion & problems, THEN they'd be able to clear things up a little more than an unpersonal tutorial.

I know this is an annoying topic - especially since I'm clueless, but, I believe that this place can help. x)

FTP stands for file transfer protocol and is one of the main ways to move files from someones hard drive to their online host/server.

The easiest way to use it is to download some program like Filezilla and connect to your host and upload the files.

So downloading an FTP is free? None of that 30 Day Free Trial stuff?

FileZilla is a free and pretty good FTP program.
