I hope I have the right lingo here for what I want, but essentially I want to create a newsletter to my subscribers with images etc, like other businesses do but I don't know how...do you have to create it in a program...excuse my ignorance...

Usually most programs will allow you to create the HTML or embed the images into it. Have you checked out some newsletter programs? Usually you will need to have a server side language (PHP, ASP, .NET) to communicate with a database (MS Access, MSSQL, mysql) which stores the information (emails, etc)
