Code for thumbnail to full pic....

I am juts learning how to use CSS and i was wondering if anybody can help me with a code that would make my thumbnail pic into the full size pic but without taking you to another page. Im not sure if it can be done in CSS or maybe it can be done with another type of script if it is then which one. Thanks.
