I have a simple file element.

<input name="xsl" type="file" />

The problem in IE is if I enter any html tags like "</>"
in the box my browse button click becomes disabled.
I am not able to browse for files.

Can anyone suggest a solution.

Are you using the XHTML DOCTYPE? You might need to provide some more source code.

file input box is not for manual entry, You have to click on browse button and select any file.
