Want to create page with a fixed Table menu

I'm trying to create a page so that theres a links menu on the left side.

I want the menu to stay put when scrolling the page which is longer then the menu box.

I'm not too familiar with coding but this is the table code I've used (which doesn't work)

I want the "home, Author and contact link. basically in a menu on the left.

I feel a little foolish. I've just solved my own problem. The 'table' I was asking about for a menu was actually a frame. I'll post my new questions in the frame section.
