After getting a localhost server set up, get a shopping cart and/or PhpBB (like this site). Read the documentation, install and then play with the code. Make sure you read all the documentation on php and apache so you want have to go back and edit their .ini files later. I'm in the process of doing zen-cart right now and it's pretty straight forward.

A few links for programs or files to play with:

hi sticks
so you are getting a zen cart and forum, I need to learn the basics of php like linking and making my own forms, and websites, I think that php websites with include are much faster. And need to learn about mysql databases, But will have to learn zen cart eventually and problaly forums. Just that the documentation that comes with php is vast and then for each of the programs like mysql is vast. Just wondered if anyone had any tips. Guess reading the documentation is a good one. Thanks for your response, appreciated/
