Hi there...anyone know what I'm doing wrong here? Very basic I feel...Has me confused......

I'm trying to send an html email by sending a page I have on my website. Using IE6.. Clicking File, Send, page by email....this opens Outlook with the page in the message window, I enter a mail address to send it to. Send it and off she goes!
BUT... then when I receive the mail there's no text and the images appear as attachments. (I'm using absolute URLs for my graphic links and the text is in a basic font)

Any ideas?

Cheers,
ConorMc Confused

Seems to work fine for me.

It may be a configuration or security problem.
OE has securtity and it could be by Firewall or AntiVirus

I'm actually using Outlook2003. But I tried sending it to a gmail a/c and a yahoo a/c same thing happened. If you woldn't mind would you try mailing it to me at conoratallangelsmusic.com. Just to see how it arrives. As you said, it could be a firewall or anti virus setting.

Thanks so much.

Conor.

Sorry, I do not communicate by email.
Maybe one of the Moderators will be able to help you out.

Hi there ConorMC,

I viewed your online example for your HTML e-mail.
It's difficult to say what the problem is. It could be that the url is being cut off by the email client (hotmail, gmail, outlook, etc.), because it's too long.

Also in email clients images aren't display by default, you have to click on a link such as "display images".

But there are much more things you have to pay attention to when you're sending a HTML e-mail. You can't just create a page in a WYSIWYG editor and copy/paste it and send it. That is bound to go wrong.

I wrote an article how to send HTML e-mail, Create compatible HTML email
http://anandgraves.com/nobullshit/articles/articles.php?id=51.
It deals with a lot of obstacles you run into, how to avoid them, a lot of tips and tools you can use to create more compatible HTML e-mail.

I've tested them in Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail, Outlook and Thunderbird.

Anand

Thanks Anand,

I actually ended up sending just a basic mail, with a small image inserted and a link to another page. But I've had a read of your article, some good tips there. I'll try using them for my next one.
Thanks again,

ConorMc
