CSS - IE Absolute Positioning hell

Hi guys,

Wondering if anyone has any ideas how to make absolute positioning work in IE? I'm feeling a bit dumb here and desperately in need of some pointers. The page in question is perfect XHTML 1.0 and can be seen here http://www.leedsconservatives.com/headingley/, with the CSS here: http://www.leedsconservatives.com/headingley/style.css.

It renders perfectly in Firefox but I cannot get my head around why it displays so shabbily in IE. It looks as though IE is rendering the page as though it is only 800 pixels wide too, even at larger resolutions; as well as placing the elements wrongly.

Any help very much appreciated!

I could not get the site to come up right now, it is usually better to give the source code as well and more along the lines of the exact problem

I usually do not use absolute positioning unless I really have to - allowing the object to fall into place is usually better because you are very limited on absolute positioning
