how do i make a forum like this one?

i dont care if you teach me forums or not i just want to know how to let people get a profile from my site i dont want anything that needs ../cgi-bin/ to work. is there a way to do this with out cgi?

You need some type of server side language to write to preferably some type of database. If you look at the bottom of this forum, you will see that it is phpBB

Talking of /cgi-bin/ for sure youa using Perl.
In term of language Perl is most powerfull especially if we need so much dealing with server side. But I think php has accomodate almost all aspects in Perl.
