Hello there

I am looking for people to test my website and provide some feedback i.e. about the navigation of the site etc and if the GIS planning process is a good idea? I already have feedback relating to colours and fonts, please leave other feedback!!

How good is the site?
Is the planning process a good idea?
Does it work?
Easy to use?

many thanks www.gism0.co.uk

Hi Vicky,

well first of all lets check some technical things. Your index site doesn't use either a doctype ( very bad ). You should add one for browsers to recognize what type of html your website is. Example:

Code:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN"
        "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
      <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="en" xml:lang="en">

Furthermore you do not use a title tag which describes your page. Search engines will penalize sites without any information concerning the page, that also applies to meta tags and descriptions.

You are using comic sans as font for the page, but this font is neither web safe nor accepted in design circles. You should specify a common font like arial, tahoma, verdana, trebuchet or any other web safe font.

Furthermore your page produces 23 errors when checked with the w3c validator. You should rethink your html coding to make it validate.

The HTML code is old - you have a mixture of css and old style tags like "font". Try to stick to the new design rules using (x)html and css.

My personal impression of this page is - too dark ( although I like dark pages ), too many colors, too big fonts, the counter is white on black bg, the image kb sizes are too high for the size of the displayed images.

Don't take it personal - see it as some suggestions what you could improve. I can remember my first times of building websites, and they didn't look much better.

I like the layout a lot. The background, and the content... looks awesome. I don't think the links fit in though. Maybe try a shade of green and lose the text-decoration.You can improve it better. It’s structure somewhat resembles as if it was designed by designers at http://www.webdesigningcompany.net , but there designs are quiet search engine friendly . .Very interesting mid section layout. The website is interactive with rollovers but it seems a little too plain. I would suggest maybe adding some photos of business people or a computer tower, just to give it a more distinguishable look. The body could use some more content as well. The design overall looks very nice though! Any way it’s still o.k. Keep up the good work.
