New on this forum. Might be helpful.
This is the problem. I'm a access developer and for a clien I create in VBA mailitems with the outlook mailobject. I want below the text in the body insert a .gif picture DEPENDING on a companyname. I have 3 company-names with three diffrent pictures. I could use in HTML (customize with VBA the HTMLbody) src:<filename> where filename links to the file. However when the mail is send to a recipient the link is not recognized. So I want to send the picture, NOT the link. Checking HTML in received mails say 'cid:877415322at11022005-0342' or some simular nrs, where 11022005 seems to be the date. It seems as if in this case the picture and not the link is send. Am I right?
So if I know how to retrieve the nrs (in this case) 877415322 and 0342 of a particular gif-file on my stand-alone computer I would be able to send the picture instead of the link. Who can help me.

You can use an absolute URL to embed into the body of an HTML email

OK Corey,

2 questions: can you give me an example of how that is done in HTML and (second) where should the gif-file be located (should it be on a website or is it still possible to locate it on the mailsending stand-alone computer)?

And absolute URL out be something like:
Code:
<img src="http://www.example.com/images/logo.gif" width="240" height="120">

The image can be loaded anywhere on your server - as long as you know the URL. It needs to be somewhere on a computer (server) that allows people to view it from the internet

Is there a way to include the image, without using an absolute URL ? I'm doing the same thing, but my image server is unavailable externally.

Thanks

If you are developing the HTML email in Outlook Express, it sometimes will embed the images for you but it is not as reliable

I'm not using outlook, the email is built by a VB program and sent via smtp gateway. The receipients use everymail client known to man.
