action in two frames on link click

Frame A is the navigation frame
Frame B is the main frame

When a link is clicked in Frame A, I want the page to switch to an option where it has more sub categories under that option

Frame B displays information about these sub categories

I can't get it to work for both...My code only works for one or the other but not both, so I know that I'm doing that part right (don't need to post it). I'm just curious how to get the action to occur in both frames
