Make a 'Press It' Button With counter

Hello. I was wanting to make a button on my webpage with an image on it. When someone clicks the button it will tell me how many people have clicked the buttom. Im ok with a little html but this is a bit beyond me. could i do this with html or would it be javascript or something else?

Or something else - ASP, .NET, PHP (a server side language) to communicate to a database / text file to store these clicks.
