Hello. I was wanting to make a button on my webpage with an image on it. When someone clicks the button it will tell me how many people have clicked the buttom. Im ok with a little html but this is a bit beyond me. could i do this with html or would it be javascript or something else?

Just use a website counter probably available from your host.
When someone clicks your button have them sent to another webpage. The new webpage will have a webcounter, then have it redirect them back to your original page.
Depending on how important these click mes are. I'm assuming its some sort of voting thing, that's the "simple idea". I'd be looking towards PHP database solution, but i'm only thinking outside the box a bit with the web page counter thing. You get the drift. not very professional though.
