I am not an expert an am using a very simple template type of DIY website.

I have followed your your HTML table design tutorial and managed to make a table that suits my needs - thanks.

However, there is a large gap between the start of the table and the preceeding text.

It is (meanwhile) hiding at the bottom of this page http://china-expert.org/Fun-and-Culture-Events-in-Beijing

I would like to get the table to be directly below the header for that section.

I have used this code:

<h3>FC Club (Beijing) Schedule 2008</h3>
<TABLE BORDER=10 bordercolor=blue Cellspacing=2 cellpadding=10>
<TR><TH>Date</TH><TH>Venue</TH><TH>Event</TH></TR>
<TR><TD>8 Jan </TD><TD>Zeta Bar, Hilton</TD><TD>Career Development-Headhunter Social Networking Evening </TD></TR>
<TR><TD>5 Feb </TD><TD>Rumi Persian Grill</TD><TD>Fab Feb Festive Farsi Feast</TD></TR>
<TR><TD>19 Feb </TD><TD>Zeta Bar, Hilton</TD><TD>Career Development-Headhunter Social Networking Evening</TD></TR>
<TR><TD>11 March </TD> <TD>Zeta Bar, Hilton</TD><TD>Career Development-Headhunter Social Networking Evening</TD></TR>
<TR><TD>25 March </TD> <TD>Loong Bar, JW Marriott</TD><TD> Entrepreneur, Business and Finance Social Networking Evening </TD></TR>
<TR><TD>4 – 6 April </TD> <TD>China World</TD><TD>Don’t forget to visit us at the Expat Show Beijing</TD></TR>
<TR><TD>8 April </TD> <TD>TBC</TD><TD>Career Development-Headhunter Social Networking Evening</TD></TR>
<TR><TD>29 April </TD> <TD>Loong Bar, JW Marriott</TD><TD> Media & I.T. Social Networking Evening </TD></TR>
<TR><TD>13 May </TD> <TD>TBC</TD><TD>Career Development-Headhunter Social Networking Evening</TD></TR>
<TR><TD>27 May </TD> <TD>Loong Bar, JW Marriott</TD><TD> Entrepreneur, Business and Finance Social Networking Evening </TD></TR>
<TR><TD>10 June</TD> <TD>TBC</TD><TD>Career Development-Headhunter Social Networking Evening</TD></TR>

Try adding a style to your header
Code:
<h3 style="margin:0px;">FC Club (Beijing) Schedule 2008</h3>
to see if that helps

I tried your suggestion but the problem has not been solved.

I have now canceled the <h3> and put that title into the table. There is still a large gap between the table and the text above.

I need,as it where, something to align the whole of the table at the top of that section or something.

How can I put that style command on the whole table?

Maybe via a <font> command?

The code is currently:

<TABLE BORDER=10 bordercolor=blue Cellspacing=2 cellpadding=5>
<TR><TH COLSPAN=3 BGCOLOR="#99CCFF">FC Club (Beijing) Schedule 2008</TH> </TR>
<TR><TH>Date</TH><TH>Venue</TH><TH>Event</TH></TR>
<TR><TD>8 Jan </TD><TD>Zeta Bar, Hilton</TD><TD>Career Development-Headhunter Social Networking Evening </TD></TR>
<TR><TD>5 Feb </TD><TD>Rumi Persian Grill</TD><TD>Fab Feb Festive Farsi Feast</TD></TR>
<TR><TD>19 Feb </TD><TD>Zeta Bar, Hilton</TD><TD>Career Development-Headhunter Social Networking Evening</TD></TR>
<TR><TD>11 March </TD> <TD>Zeta Bar, Hilton</TD><TD>Career Development-Headhunter Social Networking Evening</TD></TR>
<TR><TD>25 March </TD> <TD>Loong Bar, JW Marriott</TD><TD> Entrepreneur, Business and Finance Social Networking Evening </TD></TR>
<TR><TD>4 – 6 April </TD> <TD>China World</TD><TD>Don’t forget to visit us at the Expat Show Beijing</TD></TR>

Problem now solved.

Thanks very much for your help. I played around with some ideas I found on this great forum.

The answer was to remove the spaces between the closing of one set of </> and the start of the next<>.
