Need a BG image to span entire column width w/o repeat

I am trying to get a background image to span the entire length of a cell so that I can put text on top (eventually the text will become hyperlinks). I was able to keep it from tiling, but I can't get it to stretch the entire length of the cell.

You won't be able to get it to stretch - background images don't do that. If you have the source file for your image, consider re-doing it
