Div question

Hi there

I'm pretty new to web design and have a tendency to jump way ahead of myself when I should be getting familiar with the basics. But I was just wondering if someone could set me straight on something so I can put a bit of confusion to rest - What is the difference between:

div.something and div#something

More to the point, what is div# ?

Check out Question for the EXPERTS????.

Usually I use div.classname but I have been using div#classname when I need to start to center my website.

I had a good look at that and I think I've an understanding now of when to use ID rather than class
