I've been doing web design for several years and have recently started building a site on a host that is foreign to me.

I am having problems getting the HTML code to display an email link.

For instance;

<a href="mailto:emailataddress.org">Webmaster</a>

Is not working.

Any thoughts?

Should work - are you getting an error about default email client?

No.

It just shows the code as normal text as if it's not recognizing the html.

It sounds like you are pasting that into a WYSIWYG editor and not into HTML. How are you building the site?

I'm using the domain's web shell/frame but it's allowed me to use other html like hyperlinks and font adaptions.

I was thinking of going into FrontPage and editing the whole thing anyway, I was just looking to see if someone might have a quick fix so that I could get more of the basics finished before I added the final touches.

Did you try to look at the source code on the browser once it is done to see what it was doing?

The coding was fine.

I contacted the host server and they explained that I have to 'activate' the HTML portion of the shell for it to work properly. All is better now.

Thank you for your time. I will definitely be using your expertise in the future.

Glad it all worked out for you. A lot of times, it is something else and not the code. Good luck with the site!
