if you and your competitor have same amount of link with same quality, and u have good keyword domain name,
then it will help u little bit.

In my opinion, Forums get ranked by following the seo methods you used. Whether what kind of forum hosting you are using. It will ranked with ease if do it properly.

first you create a sitemap and submit it to search engines webmaster tools and submit your site to the search engines and submit to different web directories and bookmark it.

At first you must know what's the nature of the business or site that your going to SEO. then research the necessary keywords that you can relate the niche (topic) of the site you are working on then On Page Optimization is going to come in then after that off page.

Frames are not the best way to go with Search Engines. You need to make a site map, robots text file and get your meta tags in shape.

Hello I have found this forum as i am in the same position i have carefully selected the links relevent to the website www.jackintheboxmiddlesbrough.co.uk i am ranking first page for all primary keywords and certain key phrases, i have registered on all the directorys the competitors have. But yet still no PR ?? what is happening i must be doing something wrong its been 2 months.

does anyone have advice?

This homestead that you speak of - I know there was a HTML program with this name - is that what you are referring to? And if so, it could take up to six months before Google / search engines enter a description.

If you sign into Google's webmaster tools, you can help edit some of your listings etc.
