Hi im pretty new to HTML coding, but im making a website for a hockey team and im doing alright on it.
however, i'd like to put a link-bar on the left side of the page with links to each page on the site, so as to eliminate the need to scroll around on the homepage, and i couldnt find how to do this. does anyone know?

Most link or menu bars are set up using tables (most popular) or frames. You can also use a mapped GIF image. These are very broad subjects to cover them here in the forum. I would suggest you read through these three topics here - http://www.htmlcodetutorial.com - and then come back for any help on particular aspects of these features that you are having difficulty with.
