Hi there,

I'm new to CSS, and maybe a friday isn't the best day to take on CSS.

I'm redesigning a site. www.bksllc.com/n_template2.htm

The end result i'm looking for here is this:

If you need to scroll down b/c of your screen size to read the page, you wouldn't see more than 100px of the black box on the bottom. But i have it set up so that the shadows (PNGs) on the left and right are 900px to accomodate a larger screen size, so its filled in.

Is Max-height the CSS coding i should be using here? if so, HOW?! i've read through countless tut's and posts, and its no more clearer than when i started.

Thanks in advance,

Alex

Somewhat like a footer right?

You might check out CSS Footer Issue and Footer, never is a footer! - some more information there about that.

Well, not really. I see what they are doing in both of those examples. But, referencing my site, i'd prefer for the black extend from the bottom of the white boxto the bottom of the page, no matter what the height off the user's screen.

On larger screens, the black box would be longer and visa-versa, but it would always fill the bottom, and therefore never really have a set height... is that possible? if it can be achieved in some other way than CSS, i'd use the solution also. i'm not married to CSS at this point.

Right now - the box is about 193 pixels. What happens if it is less?

Well, the drop shadows (png's) on both the left and right are part of the main table.

they are 900 px in length, and dictate how small i can make the black box. I can not decrease the value of the black box anymore, it just won't become any smaller.

what if i were to seperate the Black box from the rest of the table above it. Could i place it directly below it, and tell its size to be 100%?

Can you make the background repeat either vertically / horizontally depending on the way the PNG is?
