Hi
I'm hoping I am posting this in the right section. I'm having horrendous problems with IE crashing constantly. It's a real PITA and I have absolutely no idea why it is doing it. I thought it would be resolved if I downloaded IE7 but it hasn't.
Has anyone got any bright ideas please?
Thanks |

Hope you got this solved by now. If not, post back and will give it a go although this is the wrong forum for this type of question.

Unfortunately, I haven't solved the problem yet. Micro$haft have even been trying to sort it out, but they can't manage it either.
Since my first message I have reformatted my PC and it still doesn't work. Sometimes it will not crash for 10 minutes or so but then sometimes I can't open anything because it crashes constantly.
All the updates are applied, but how do I do a detect and repair please? |

I would also doa scandisk / defrag.
For the repair, go to the control panel, add / remove programs locate Windows IE and choose removed. This will then ask you if you want to repair it.
You can also try running a sfc /scannow from Start - Run

Hi Corey
I don't get that option at all. I get 'remove' and that is it.
I'm just wondering if I have some sort of conflict...

I just checked, I don't have that option either. Well actually I don't have the option to remove IE 7 from my machine. It used to be there, I swear - but since the browser is so integrated into Windows now, I guess that it is just not available any longer.
There is also that deep scandisk that you can do when you reboot Windows. Other than the SFC and that, I would consider blowing out the machine. You might check with www.newbies.ws or forums.devshed.com for some hardware / software advice also.

Hi Corey
Well I am so glad it isn't just me (I'm not a real blonde BTW - just help out occasionally). I have the option to remove it, but when I do I reinstall it blah de blah...
I will check out the links you mentioned.
Other than that, I will be drop-kicking it down the garden. Will that do as a blow-out?
