When it comes to putting a copyright notice on a web page. How much is to much?
I see some sites that put a simple one line of text showing something like this:
© Copyright - 2007 - friendlyfireamerica.com, All Rights Reserved.
Then their is what I have used on this page:
[url]
http://www.friendlyfireamerica.com/ffa-contact.htm[/url]
The above page I'm working on with the site owner. We have been friends for over 10 years. We both want to show the copyright information. But don't want it to over power the site like it does now. I also include this in the <meta tages>

Jeffrey Cohen would be the attorney I would recommend to speak with re: this issue.
It kind of seems you are more interested in getting credit for your work though? And if that's the case, does it matter? Just make sure you have a contract together so that in case something were to happen, you would be protected.

Funny you say that. I was starting to think the same thing. I thought instead of the large amount of copyright info just show a single line of text at the bottom of the page. Then maybe include a majority of the info as a comment stuck in the source code.
Ever since the problems that I had over the fxtobin.com site and only having a verbal contract. I guess I went over board with the copyright info on the page.
I'm trying to develope a contract for web design. Just not sure exactly I need to include to protect myself. Any suggestions??

What you said above is what I have been thinking. As far as a contract goes I'm not really sure everything I need to include in it. I have several samples I found on the internet. Just need to figure out exactly what is needed to protect myself and show the customer what they need to provide before I start the design process....

That's why an attorney will come in handy. It might cost some money up front, but it will help to ensure your protection, especially when doing business with friends.
Small Business Forums will also help some, most will tell you re-consider when doing business with friends.
