Expanding Navigation menu

Hello

I have 7 hover buttons going down the left hand side of my page which link to other pages. i would like to be able to click on one of them and for this to expand into four more menu option(or 4 more over buttons).

I am a starter with html so all the coding sites have confused me!!!

I only need one of the hover buttons to expand.

How do you want it to expand, to the right or downward. You'll have to post up the complete code for this menu area with css also.
