| Hi i'm a newbie to website design and want to produce a 1 page website (at first). I know basic HTML so my question is what is easier? starting from scratch or using a template and changing the page around? Also Dreamweaver? heard a lot about it, would that be an option? Any help much appreciated. Andy. |

Dreamweaver is a WYSIWYG editor like Expression Web (which I would recommend if you wanted one of those editors). Using a template sometimes can cause more problems sometimes depending on the way that the template was created - you might be very limited on some things.

I would say that if you already have experience with basic HTML, I would use a simple text editor. Not that I know a lot about what different options to do and which is better, but I just used Notepad on my PC. It's not professional, but with a little HTML and some images hosted on Photobucket.com, I came up with this site:
www.stagefrightremedy.com
That's as far as my knowledge goes. I hope it helps in your decision. |

Hi Andy. Another program you can use is EZ Generator. You will need to download it, as it is a trial. Oh, and one heads up when you start making your site there. The A's will be E's, also due because of the trial limitation. Good luck! I've just started learning about HTML, but feel free to ask me questions on that, and I'll try to help out. . Cheers! |

I make my own templates within GIMP, then work on coding later. First step is to decide how the website should look in your mind, with GIMP I make a rough sketch of how it should look using different colours for different parts of the website/page. Then I work on creating the template with the colours and layout that I want. Hope this helped a bit... W! |
