I'm a beginner, absolute beginner. I know a bit of HTML and have a little before, but now I wanna know how to convert my template (don't know if my terminology is right. I mean something like this: http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg122/manal93/layouts/layout3.png) to a code that I can actually use on a main site. I really don't know where to start, how to get buttons to work, how to get them in right positions, etc.

wow, really nice design there. You can start out from this website. It's go some great HTML tutorials. If you feel like watching some video tutorials, you can visit http://ogsolution.com

The steps you need to do are a follows:
1) You need to slice up that image into smaller images
2) Use HTML to piece together those broken down images
3) Make the proper links linkable
4) Get a domain name (ex. something.com)
5) Get a hosting company and upload your files to the hosting company
6) You have yourself a website

Thank You ! I still don't get some stuff though. What if I don't have photoshop? And how do I get the buttons in the right positions?

You can use GIMP. To get the buttons at the right place, you'll need to layout the images using HTML.

I have Gimp, so yeah ... Photoshop has this 'Save to web' option that saves in HTML. How do I do that in GIMP?

You can install this "Save for Web" plug-in

Adobe PhotoShop Express might be an option as well.
