How do i put in a little icon beside the adress in the address bar like this site has (the little "i' icon)

That is called a favicon. The following two sites will allow you to make your own by using their online favicon generator tool and they will give you the information you need to put the meta tag in for it:

Thanks a ton! it worked great and was very easy. i have only one question. When it talks about the root folder, how do you get there?

The root folder is the same folder where your index.html file is or what you consider the home page of your site.

You get there the same way that you have to edit your home page, index.html, file. Just put the favicon image there with the index.html file.
