show images on same page when different links where clicked

Hello I tried online to find the information on how to show the images on same page and place when different image links were clicked on that page

Can some one help me how i can do this either in html or css.

for ex:
I have page 1 with 3 links like apple, banana and car

When user clicks on Apple I don't need the page to be refreshed but the image should be displayed in the center of the page
and when they click 2nd one the image should be refreshed to second one on the same place where 1st image was shown.

You could use a pop-up or check out some of the scripts at Dynamic Drive. They have some Dynamic Drive: Image Effects that might work things like Dynamic Drive: Image Effects (Image Mouseover Effects. Usually people can find a script there that will suit their needs.
