How can I solve these layout problems in Firefox, okay in IE?
centering, font-size (why are some instances okay?); spacing in tables appears to be a very wide default.
Sample code:
| Code: |
<table border=0 cellpadding="2" cellspacing="3"><tr><th>Subject:</th><td>Economics and politics</td></tr>
<tr><th>Style:</th><td>Reading Review</td></tr>
<tr><th>Excerpt:</th></table> |

Could it be that there is no font size set, I see no centering attributes?
FF and IE display default font sizes differently. Is the default font set the same for each browser?
I viewed with IE7 & 8, Opera, Safari, Chrome and FF and appearance is the same. |

To sticks464:
Actually, sticks464, I obviously can't include the full code. I can answer your points, though:
1. Font sizes are set in a .css file. They are okay in IE, but definitely not showing up correctly in Firefox.
2. Centering works in IE but only in some places in Firefox, again there are these attributes in the .css file.
3. I have generally stated what dimensions I want RATHER THAN use defaults. In the code for the table (provided) there are cellspacing and cellpadding values which seem much wider in Firefox. I did what you did, sticks464, I pasted the sample code into a new .htm file. The results are indeed the same for just the sample code, and the code is responsive to changes in the cellspacing and cellpadding values.
But in IE, in my original code, the table looks more squashed when values are the same. There seem to be no other defining attributes for the table.
I hope you are following me!!! |

Without the code to see what is actually causing the problem it is counter productive to keep guessing. Code or a live site is essential to troubleshooting code/css problems.
If this is a secret government project then I understand. I don't want you to kill me if I see the code. (joke).

That means something else is contributing to cause the problem. |

Hi sticks464
I appreciate you would like the whole code. I've prepared it but now I can't find where to upload it here.
1. I can paste it all here, but it's messy--you'd have to paste them back into separate files.
2. Maybe you can tell me the upload function here.
3. If you're comfortable to provide your email...
