New window opening up in frames - help!

I have set up a frameset - 2 columns on one page, no rows. When I click on a link in column 1 (name=frame_1), a whole new window opens up on top of my frames - it does not open up within the frame (column 2, name = intro). Here is the code I am using on the links page (column 1 - left):

<a href="C:\Documents and Settings\Bill Burke\My Documents\Family Documents\Connor's Documents\Sophomore Classes\CIW\photos.html" target="intro">Photo Gallery</a>

How do I eliminate the new window and instead open the link inside the frame? THanks - mary
