Hope someone can help, I want to create a URL link within a web page that will allow me to pass a single variable & for the target URL to be able to use that variable.

Hopefully it will be reasonably easy although I have searched for a couple of hours without success.

What will be the variable and what will the page be doing with it.

It's quite easy with php.

There are also javascript options

Thanks for the response, data will be entered into a form on the web page consisting of a file name & path. This is then used to import the file & store contents in a database on the server, which is then used to display in the web page.

The actual instructions are contained in the next web page hence the need to pass the variable, as I can only get the server side to work immediately after <body> & outside Javascript.

It all works if I use a fixed file name & path.

Not quite sure what you mean.

Do you have example code?

Here is an example of a few GET & query string methods
