Thanks fairdoes:

I'll search for the book but I'm getting a new computer this week and I think I've spent enough for awhile. The book will have to wait but I'll see if it's availible around town.

This may sound like a dumb question but remember I'm learning a whole new language here, but what is a Template and how is it used? I've heard the term before in relation to website design and I understand the mundane word of a Template but could you explain please what a Web template is and how do I use it?

Thanks.

envaneo. :)

A template can be very basic - I usually just refer to it as the design / layout of the website in general.

If you plan it out properly, the style sheet can easily be changed if needed to make massive changes throughout your website

Thanks Corey:

So how do you attach the template to the website?

btw, and while your online, could you please provide me with the simple steps of creating an image in paint and how I can upload that image to my site? You know a kind of a first you do this then you do this kind of a thing.

My provider has a forum but it's very week and they aren't very helpfull.

Are You using phpNuke?

thanks

Code:
<link rel="stylesheet" href="includes/default.css" type="text/css" />

to basically add the CSS stylesheet.

As far as Paint, I do not use that program either. I have designers on staff that use Photoshop and Flash but not paint.

Thanks for the link. I will try it out later after work.

What I really need help with at the moment is how to get images from say a paint like program (it's the only thing I have at the moment but I plan on downloading Gimp latter this week.) I really need to learn the process from getting my image to the site. I tried the image tag but it wont work with phpNuke.

My blog is under categories, and I want to dress up the blog. Right now its just two sections. I'll pm with the website.

Sorry for not responding earlier. I just PM'd you with the link to my website. My trouble is in my weblog.

I'll PM you with my admin password if you need it in order to edit the page. The site is kind of week in terms of password protection which I need to change soon. I know I need to change the password as well

Sorry for the delay - I had a holiday! A what?! A holiday!

A template is basically a whole website with the content missing. You just paste in your stories, add a few titles, and it's done.

You upload to the internet via ftp or drag and drop if the webhosts provide it.

If the template website is any good, all pages will link to the same stylesheet, and you can alter all styles (fonts, colours, background images, etc) from there. Smile

Thanks for all of that Fairdoes. I had a dealy as well as I bought another computer and I'm trying to get my stuff transfered over to the new system including this forum which has been a huge resource for me.

At the moment I'm having trouble with images and placing them on my site under the artticles section. For isntance it won't let me increase font level in the text window. Any ideas? I'm rather lost here.

Thanks

Could you post your url so people can take a look? I don't understand exactly the nature of your problem with images - I do it like this:

http://www.pjf.org.uk/design/freexhtml/pages/images.htm .

There's example code available from the links. (The third section of the page) Smile
